Midwives in Schools

Dear teachers,

Is sex education on the curriculum in 4th grade? Then, as a midwife, I would be delighted to visit your class! As part of sex education, I offer the topics pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period and breastfeeding.

What the children experience

I present pregnancy and birth in an age-appropriate way and as something completely natural. For this I work with illustrative materials and games in which what we have discussed is acted out. This makes it easy for the children to place what they have heard and seen in their own world of experience.

It is important to me that children receive reliable information about these normal events in life before puberty. Who could convey the miracle of pregnancy and birth, and everything that goes with it, more vividly than we midwives, who are always present at these special moments?
